The Oregon Health Authority on Wednesday reported 1,346 new confirmed or suspected coronavirus cases and 41 additional deaths.
The figures represent the second day in a row of more than 40 new death announcements, although the state said on Tuesday that the lengthy process of confirming some deaths has delayed some announcements. More than 30 of the deaths announced on Tuesday occurred in 2020.
The state did not provide details of the deaths announced on Wednesday, but said more information would be released later today.
Oregon’s death toll through Tuesday pushed the death toll from COVID-19 in December to 513, surpassing deaths in March, April, May, June, July and August combined.

New deaths: The state did not provide any information on any of the new deaths, but said it would do so later on Wednesday.
The prevalence of infections: On Wednesday, the state reported 1,168 new positive tests out of 17,886 tests performed, a positive rate of 6.5%.
Who was infected: New confirmed or suspected infections increased in the following age groups: 0-9 years (72); 10 to 19 (160); 20-29 (254); 30-39 (233); 40-49 (197); 50-59 (158); 60-69 (129); 70 to 79 (78); 80 years and over (46).
Who is in the hospital: The state reported that 434 Oregonians with confirmed coronavirus infections were currently in hospital on Wednesday, 31 more than on Tuesday. Of those, 103 coronavirus patients were in intensive care units, 10 more than Tuesday.
Vaccines administered: Oregon administered 129,782 out of 321,225 doses received, or just over 40% of its supply.
Since he started: Oregon has reported 129,109 confirmed or suspected infections and 1,708 deaths, among the lowest totals in the country. To date, the state has reported 2,874,572 lab reports from testing.
