The Oregon Health Authority on Monday reported 666 new confirmed or suspected coronavirus cases and three other deaths, as officials announced that the vaccine rollout in some groups would be delayed after a promised federal shipment of 200,000 doses was not materialized.
Vaccinations continued at a steady pace in the state, with more than 8,400 doses of the vaccine administered on Sunday. A total of 216,925 first and second doses of the vaccine were administered in Oregon, officials said, out of 335,075 doses that were dispensed.
Where new cases are by county: Benton (10), Clackamas (57), Columbia (6), Coos (1), Crook (9), Deschutes (51), Douglas (11), Hood River (3), Jackson (40), Jefferson (2) , Joséphine (9), Lake (1), Lane (81), Lincoln (5), Linn (8), Malheur (4), Marion (79), Morrow (6), Multnomah (140), Polk (9) , Umatilla (29), Wasco (10), Washington (87) Yamhill (8).
New deaths: Oregon’s 1,801st coronavirus-related death is a 90-year-old Lane County woman who tested positive Jan.4 and died Jan.8 at her home.
The 1802nd death is a 55-year-old man from Marion County who tested positive on December 27 and died January 16 in Salem Hospital.
Oregon’s 1803rd death is a 99-year-old Multnomah County woman who tested positive on January 3 and died on January 15 at her home.
Each person had underlying health issues or state officials were working to determine if the person had any underlying medical conditions.
The prevalence of infections: On Wednesday, the state reported 775 new positive tests out of 12,453 tests performed, a positivity rate of 6.2%.
Who was infected: New confirmed and suspected infections increased in the following age groups: 0-9 years (46); 10-19 (138); 20-29 (207); 30-39 (175); 40-49 (160); 50-59 (128); 60-69 (84); 70-79 (43); 80 years and over (26).
Who is in the hospital: The state reported that 342 Oregonians with confirmed coronavirus infections were in hospital Monday, 19 fewer than Sunday. Of those, 94 coronavirus patients were in intensive care units, one less than Sunday.
Vaccines administered: Oregon administered 216,925 out of 335,075 doses it received, or nearly 65% of its supply.
Since he started: Oregon has reported 133,851 confirmed or suspected infections and 1,803 deaths, among the lowest totals in the country. To date, the state has reported 2,969,076 lab reports from testing.
