The race will take place at 9 a.m. on Monday, February 1 to book one of 3,500 coronavirus vaccination appointments at Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, the first super vaccination site in San Bernardino County.
County officials are encouraging people to book online at sbcovid19.com/vaccine.
Those who need help making an appointment can contact the county’s COVID-19 hotline starting at 9 a.m. on Monday at 909-387-3911.
People eligible for the vaccine include county residents over 65 and frontline healthcare workers and emergency service professionals who live or work in the county.
Residents receiving an initial dose at the Tuesday February 2 event, Auto Club Speedway, will be able to immediately schedule an appointment to receive their second dose at a follow-up event at the Speedway on March 2.
Appointments should last around an hour and people are asked to arrive no earlier than 15 minutes before the scheduled time. After being vaccinated, recipients will be monitored by medical staff to make sure they do not have a negative reaction.
Vaccination appointments at the Ontario Convention Center, which will be open Monday through Friday starting Thursday, February 4, will be available early next week, county spokesman David Wert said. .
