Commissioners Luz E. Torres and Brian C. Abram announced that the Chautauqua County Electoral Board has trained 361 polling officers for the November 2 general election.
“Our electoral inspectors are trained every year, we keep the workers you see on election day informed of the latest information and changes to the electoral process”, remarked Commissioner Brian C. Abram.
Dedicated Election Inspectors are the men and women who help the Election Council staff the 49 polling stations in Chautauqua County in every election.
“Election workers are still needed in Chautauqua County”, noted Commissioner Luz E. Torres. “If people are interested in working on polling day, they can call the electoral board at 753-4580 for more information.”
Poll workers receive a minimum wage of $ 12.50 per hour of work on polling day, in addition to $ 25 to attend the mandatory annual training session. Poll workers start their day at 5:00 am sharp and will work until approximately 9:30 pm Shorter shifts are available at some polling locations.
“Our workers are at the heart of the electoral process”, concludes Abram.
