After being criticized for not making an appointment for the second dose of the COVID vaccine at a state-run mega site, officials say people will now automatically get the dates they desperately wanted.
Gloucester County officials said the county was working with the state to ensure people who received their first vaccines at the Rowan College mega site in South Jersey will receive the second much needed doses.
“As confirmed by the state, on Friday, January 29, 2021, all people who have already received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine by January 29, 2021 will be automatically scheduled for their second dose,” the county said. . “These people should expect to receive an email containing a QR (Matrix Barcode) code with the date and time of their next appointment.”
If the county does not have an email address on file, someone will instead receive a text or phone call to schedule their second dose.
Then, anyone who receives their vaccine on or after Jan. 30 will automatically receive a second appointment from the state, the county said.
“The state has indicated that appointments will be according to the date on the back of the card and that all appointments will take place at the Gloucester County Mega Vaccination Site,” the county said.
Several readers told NJ Advance Media that they were worried about getting a second date, especially since doses and dates are scarce. They said they were unable to book one through the state registration site, which was confirmed by the county on Monday.
“Seeing state and county officials come up with a resolution is good news, assuming all is going well with their plan,” said Charlie Dowd, one of the people waiting for a word on a second. Appointment.
The state said Tuesday it had surpassed 600,000 confirmed cases on the same day it reached 600,000 vaccinations administered.
