The island recorded another death from Covid-19 this evening which brought the death toll to 43.
Kim Wilson, the Minister of Health, said 155 more coronavirus infections had been recorded and the number of active cases now stood at 1,513.
Ms Wilson said people continued to go out in public, including at work, with symptoms.
She said: “This behavior is irresponsible and puts a lot of people at risk.”
Ms Wilson told the audience: “Your individual choices affect us all, and as I said before, we are all in the same boat and we need to work together to end this epidemic.”
She added: “Unfortunately, the current outbreak is mainly caused by members of the Bermuda community who are not vaccinated.”
There were 54 people hospitalized with the disease, up from 51 on Sunday, and the number of intensive care patients remained at 12.
Ms Wilson said: “We now have 1,513 active cases, and when you look at the cases of local transmission or those under investigation, 74% of those people are not fully vaccinated.”
She said contact tracers “regularly” see transmission of the virus from unvaccinated to vaccinated people.
But Ms Wilson added that the reverse seemed to be happening “in only a few cases”.
The latest figures, from tests carried out last Friday and Saturday, showed that eight of the new cases came from abroad.
The other 147 were classified as transmissions on the island or still under investigation.
There have been 68 recoveries since last Sunday’s update.
The number of new cases was down from the peak seen early last week, such as Tuesday, when 191 new cases were recorded.
There have been six new hospital admissions with Covid-19 and two have been discharged since Sunday’s update.
Ms Wilson offered her condolences to the family and friends of the latest victim.
Covid-19 statistics listed the number of active infections at 1,427 on Sunday.
Deaths attributed to Covid-19 increased by four over the weekend to 42.
Ms Wilson said Bermuda’s seven-day real-time breeding number average is 1.25 and the country’s current status is clusters of cases, although Bermuda meets criteria for community transmission that is characterized by an increased incidence of locally acquired and widely dispersed cases, with many cases unrelated to specific clusters.
She added: “I recognize that it is a very stressful time and that the wave of positive cases is causing anxiety. I encourage anyone who needs to speak with someone to contact the Emotional Wellbeing hotline. He is available to help.
