The number of Oregonians hospitalized with COVID-19 increased by 35 new admissions to 457 on Thursday, a four-and-a-half increase in the past four weeks and the highest number since January.

Vaccines: The state has recorded 6,922 new vaccinations administered – of which about 3,242 on Wednesday and the remainder in other recent days. The state averages 5,122 vaccinations per day, part of an ever-growing trend.
More than 2.3 million Oregonians of all ages – or about 55% – have been fully immunized. Many experts believe that 85% or more of the population must be fully vaccinated to achieve herd immunity and quell any significant transmission of the virus.

A 78-year-old Union County woman tested positive on July 27 and died at St. Alphonsus Regional Medical Center on Wednesday.
A 78-year-old man from Union County tested positive on July 24 and died in Grande Ronde hospital on Tuesday.
A 61-year-old Union County woman tested positive on July 21 and died at Grande Ronde hospital on Wednesday.
An 85-year-old Lincoln County man tested positive on July 16 and died at PeaceHealth Sacred Heart Medical Center in Riverbend on Saturday.
A 35-year-old Jackson County man tested positive on July 29 and died at Providence Medford Medical Center on Tuesday.
An 81-year-old Jackson County man tested positive on July 28 and died at his home on Wednesday.
A 76-year-old man from Malheur County tested positive on January 26 and died on February 11 at Nampa Medical Center in St. Luke.
All eight people who died had underlying conditions. The state does not declare their immunization status.
From the beginning : Oregon has recorded 225,919 confirmed or suspected cases and 2,885 deaths since the start of the pandemic, the fourth and fifth lowest rates in the country, respectively. But in the past two weeks, the state has recorded the 21st highest infection rate and tied with a few others for the 26th highest death rate.
