COVID-19 positivity rate in New York nearly 3%

New York’s COVID-19 positivity rate hovers around 3% as hospitalizations continue to rise.

The statewide rate, measured over a seven-day average, was 3.12% on Friday, according to statistics released by Governor Cuomo on Saturday.

The rate in New York was 2.55 percent.

Of the 169,716 test results that came back statewide on Friday, 4,990 – or 2.94 percent – were positive, Cuomo said.

1,978 people were hospitalized with the virus and 18 deaths from COVID-19 on Friday, including seven among New York residents.

The state has ceded 54,431 COVID-19 vaccine doses from Friday to Saturday bringing the total number of doses to 23,187,384.

In total, 78.3% of adults in New York City received at least one shot of the vaccine and 70.4% completed the series of vaccines, Cuomo said citing federal data.
