Humboldt County Joint Information Center press release:
A total of 2,220 county residents have tested positive for COVID-19, after 49 new cases were reported today.
In vaccine news, today the county has moved to phase 1B-level 1, starting with people aged 75 and over.
Director of Public Health Michele Stephens said: “We continue to work through the levels in our plan and we are now opening up to people 75 and over because there are enough vaccines to do so. As we receive additional vaccines, we will open additional levels. ”
Dr Ian Hoffman, Humboldt County’s health official, said as public health wraps up one phase, it prepares for the next. “We are vaccinating groups in tandem,” he said. “We will continue to work with our healthcare partners to identify when and where people can get their vaccine.”
More information on how people 75 and over can get vaccinated will be available in the coming weeks. Local healthcare providers will provide more information to their patients aged 75 and over.
