Twenty-eight new cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed in Humboldt County since the last report on Friday. The total number of county residents who have tested positive for the virus is 4,675.
Two new hospitalizations have also been reported since Friday, one in his 40s and another in his 60s.
Since the last weekly data update on July 6, the county has reported 60 cases of COVID-19 and four hospitalizations. More than half of the cases involved residents under the age of 30, including 16 residents aged 10 to 19 and five children under 10. Residents hospitalized over the past week were two in their 40s and two in their 60s.

Health officials generally agree that vaccination remains the best way to prevent infection with COVID-19. The vaccine is available at public health clinics and most local pharmacies. Walk-in people are welcome at all public health clinics, or register in advance at MyTurn.ca.gov. See the clinic schedule for the next seven days below.

The Pfizer vaccine is approved for children as young as 12 years old. Minors must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. The Johnson & Johnson vaccine is authorized for people 18 years of age and over.
