Humboldt County Joint Information Center press release:
Twenty-one new cases of COVID-19 have been reported in Humboldt County since the last report on Friday. The total number of county residents who have tested positive for the virus now stands at 3,370.
Humboldt County Public Health will be hosting two large-scale COVID-19 vaccination clinics this week, in partnership with local health care providers, and plans to administer around 1,300 doses. More than 600 of these clinical spaces are reserved for second doses.
Clinic appointments are always by invitation only. To complete the appointments available for people aged 65 and over, public health uses the information submitted through the online interest form based on the vaccine priorities set by the state.

Other local licensed vaccinators contact their eligible patients directly to schedule vaccination appointments.
Groups now prioritized for immunization include:
- 65 and over – All county residents in this age group are eligible.
- Emergency Services – All police, fire and medical first responders, including volunteer and paid staff.
- K-12 and Early Childhood Education, Child Care – All staff, paid and voluntary, who work in a K-12 or early childhood education setting as educators or support staff. This includes helpers and office staff as well as transport, custody, cafeteria and maintenance workers.
- Higher education – All educators and support staff.
- Health Care Phase 1A – All workers in this sector.
- 16-64 year olds with specific high-risk medical conditions or disabilities – County residents considered to be most at risk of becoming ill with COVID-19 are eligible.
Vaccination priorities are set by the State of California and the ability to vaccinate additional groups is strictly limited by the available supply. Without a significant increase in the weekly allowance, it will be months before Humboldt County has enough doses to immunize everyone in those areas and age groups.
