Humboldt County Joint Information Center press release:

A total of 3,246 residents of Humboldt County have tested positive for COVID-19 after 16 new cases were reported today.

The state of California has allocated Humboldt County a total of 5,010 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine for next week. Of these doses, 3,510 are Pfizer, 1,300 are Moderna and 200 are Johnson & Johnson, the first single-dose COVID-19 vaccine cleared for emergency use. Humboldt County Public Health plans to use 1,430 doses for its large-scale vaccination centers. The rest will be distributed to approved local vaccinators.

The immunization priority now includes people working in higher education, either as educators or as support staff. Vaccination appointments are by invitation only and these invitations are intended for the recipient only. Residents of Humboldt County who meet the state’s qualifications for vaccination include:

  • People aged 70 and over
  • Health workers
  • Emergency services personnel
  • Kindergarten to Grade 12 and early childhood education staff, including educators and support staff
