A Humboldt County resident in his 50s has died from COVID-19. Staff at the Department’s Operations Center share their condolences with family, friends and caregivers of the deceased.
Two hospitalizations were also reported, including one in their twenties and one in their fifties. Seventy-two new cases were reported, bringing the total number of residents who tested positive for the virus to 8,254.
Public health officials continue to urge residents to get tested for COVID-19, especially unvaccinated people, those showing symptoms and those who have been in close contact with someone who tested positive for the virus .
The tests are available at most public health vaccination clinics, where residents will have the option of getting tested, vaccinated, or both. As always, testing and vaccination services are provided free of charge. Combined clinics will be held this week in Garberville, Blue Lake, Arcata and Eureka.
COVID-19 testing continues in Eureka from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. seven days a week at the Wharfinger Building at 1 Marina Way. The test site is operated by OptumServe and located in the Bay Room on the ground floor of the building. The site is closed from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. and from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. for staff meal breaks. Walk-in visits are welcome, but pre-registration is recommended. Register at lhi.care/covidtesting.
Walk-in people are welcome in almost any location, and appointments can be made in advance at MyTurn.ca.gov. For instructions in English and Spanish on using My Turn, visit humboldtgov.org/VaccineInfo.
