COVID-19 vaccination in Harford County: how to pre-register

HARFORD COUNTY, MD – The Harford County Health Department is pre-screening those interested in receiving the COVID-19 vaccine.

The health department has published a form where people can express interest in the vaccine and speed up appointment scheduling.

The form is not a registration for vaccination. Rather, it is a screening tool that will allow health officials to prequalify people for upcoming vaccination clinics.

This is only for people in groups 1A who still need to be vaccinated as well as 1B and 1C:

• PHASE 1A: Health workers, first responders, residents and long-term care workers
• PHASE 1B:
  • Residents in assisted living or in community
  • 75 years and over
  • Education sector
  • Government continuity (state, county or local government officials)
• PHASE 1C:
  • Adults 65 to 74 years old
  • Essential workers in laboratory services, agriculture, manufacturing and postal services

Here is the form and how it works (for the moment, the form is reserved for people aged 75 and over):

• Fill out the form with information like postcode, age, health conditions, etc. The form is only intended for people aged 75 and over at present. Guardians or family members aged 75 and over can complete the form on their behalf. Those who need help filling out the form can call Christopher Morgan, director of Harford County’s health administration, at 410-877-1006.
• You will be contacted by an employee from the Harford County Health Department in the coming weeks.
• The health department will email a link to the email address provided in the form once vaccine availability has been confirmed and immunization clinics have been scheduled. The link will allow the user to register for a day and time vaccination clinic.

As it will take time to reach all eligible groups, health officials advise residents to continue to wear masks, keep a distance of at least 6 feet between themselves and avoid large gatherings.

Harford County has 10,160 confirmed cases and 183 deaths from the coronavirus, state health officials reported on Saturday (January 16).

Vaccine distribution plan

On Saturday January 16, Harford County is in phase 1A of the Maryland vaccination plan.

Phase 1A includes healthcare workers, first responders, residents and staff of long-term care facilities and other public safety personnel.

Maryland will enter Phase 1B of its vaccine distribution plan on Monday, January 18, which will include people aged 75 and over, education and government workers, assisted living and other community settings.

Harford County will begin vaccinations for people in phase 1B on Tuesday, January 19.

Starting Monday, January 25, select retailers will provide vaccines to eligible Marylanders. Among the locations is one in Harford County: Giant Foods at 1401 Rock Spring Road in Bel Air.

Group 1C can start pre-registering in Harford County for the vaccine on January 25, and a new link will be provided.
