COVID-19 Vaccine: Veterans Line Up To Get Vaccinated In Philadelphia; Delaware dentists answer the call

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) – With the rollout of the COVID-19 vaccine, President Joe Biden wants to administer 100 million vaccines in his first 100 days.

On Saturday, across the Delaware Valley, there was pressure to attract those who needed it most, starting with the veterans.

At the Philadelphia VA Medical Center, veterans aged 75 and over and those with chronic illnesses rolled up their sleeves to get vaccinated against COVID-19.

Marine Corps veteran Ed Murray said he was initially worried about the shooting, but realized the benefits far outweighed the risks.

“I think this is extremely important if you want to keep yourself safe, keep your community safe, keep your family safe,” Murray said.

AV officials are in the midst of a campaign to vaccinate as many veterans as possible.

“We are very fortunate here at the VA to be able to provide large scale vaccination for our veteran population which tends to be an underserved population and makes them a very vulnerable population,” said Matt Garin, deputy chief of staff. for patient safety and quality at the Philadelphia VA Medical Center.

In Delaware, part of the rollout is getting more healthcare workers to administer the doses.

Three dentists received training and vaccinated 150 people on Saturday.

“To help everyone, I think that’s really what it is,” said Dr. Erik Bradley, of Dental Associates of Delaware. “It’s about giving back as much as possible and helping the state and the nation get back on their feet.”

The counties of Chester, Delaware, Montgomery and Philadelphia have published websites that allow you to pre-register and show your interest in the vaccine.
