COVID-19 vaccine was available to anyone 18 and over at jazz event in Orlando, commissioner said

ORLANDO, Florida – A Johnson and Johnson vaccine was available to anyone 18 and over at Jazz in the Park in Orlando on Saturday, according to city commissioner Bakari Burns.

“If you are 18 and over, you can get the vaccine,” said Commissioner Bakari Burns.

Burns said this in a Facebook Live post around 5:30 p.m. in the video. He posted this message around 1:13 p.m. on Saturday. About three hours later, Burns clarified his statement and told anyone 18 and over with co-morbidities.

News 6 spoke to people under the age of 40 who received a COVID-19 vaccine on Saturday.

Tickets for the event at Bill Frederick Park sold out earlier this week, according to Burns’ Facebook page.

“We all need to consider getting your shot if you haven’t,” Burns said.

Burns said the shots were administered by teams from the Florida Emergency Management Division.

Starting Monday, anyone 50 and over will be eligible to get the coronavirus vaccine in Florida.

Also starting Monday, anyone 40 years of age and over will be able to get vaccinated at the Orange County Convention Center.

There were 250 doses of vaccine available at the event.
