Warren County’s COVID-19 numbers continue to rise and its transmission rate is “high,” According to the CDC.
In the past five days, 37 new cases have been reported locally – 13 Saturday, none Sunday, no Monday, eight Tuesday and 16 Wednesday.
During that time, the county exceeded 7,000 cases per 100,000 population – the number stood at 7,052.6 as of Wednesday’s report.
Of the total 2,764 cases in the county to date, 2,101 have been confirmed and 663 are probable.
The department reported that there had been 16 COVID-positive cases at Warren General Hospital over the past week.
According to the CDC, each county in Pennsylvania falls into one of the two highest transmission categories, with 55 of the 67 having high community transmission. Two of the 12 substantial category counties – McKean and Forest – share a border with Warren County.
Vaccination of county residents continues to increase slowly. In the past five days, an additional 112 residents were fully vaccinated and 145 received the first doses, bringing the total to 14,364 full vaccinations and 2,331 who were partially vaccinated.
This week, the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine was the first to receive full approval from the United States Food and Drug Administration.
