BIG FALLS – There were 1,096 new cases of COVID-19 reported in Montana on Wednesday, and the statewide death toll has now reached 739, according to data compiled by MTN News over the past 24 hours.
There are currently 15,622 active cases in the state, and there has been a cumulative total of 64,811 cases of the virus in Montana, MTN News reports. Of the total cases, 48,450 have recovered.
There are currently 478 people hospitalized and the cumulative number of hospitalizations is 2,733.
The number of tests conducted in the state reached 663,581, an increase of 2,686 from the previous 24-hour period.
There has now been 717 dead in Montana due to COVID. Among the 14 new deaths since Tuesday, there were people in the following counties: Daniels, Carter, Richland, Dawson, Roosevelt and Valley. The counties with the most cumulative deaths on Wednesday are:
- Big horn: 48
- Waterfall: 78
- Glacier: 29
- Hill: 31
- Missoula: 43
- Roosevelt: 45
- Silver Bow: 35
- Yellowstone: 122

The disparity between Department of Public Health and Human Services (DPHHS) data and county health services data continues to grow as cases of COVID-19 worsen in Montana.
