The city is doubling down on its reopening efforts despite concerns about the Delta variant.
“We have no intention of a mask warrant,” he said on Monday, echoing the position he laid out on Friday. “We intend to double the vaccinations.”
Health officials say 69% of all new cases are the Delta variant, but hospitalizations remain low.

Vaccination rates, however, have fallen nearly 85% since mid-April, and the state continues to close its mass vaccination centers – including the Javits Center and on Monday, the Jones Beach site.
COVID rates have been higher in Harlem and Staten Island, where fewer people are getting vaccinated.
“If we had had the hindsight of vaccines as we see in some media, I don’t think at all that it would have been possible not only to eradicate smallpox, we would probably still have smallpox, and we probably would have. still have polio in this country, ”said Dr Anthony Fauci.
There is a new warning from the US Surgeon General, saying local officials have the right to re-implement COVID restrictions as cases increase, such as in LA County where mask warrants are now in place.
Masks are still required in subways, schools and healthcare facilities, and the mayor says he anticipates changes in class standards as the new school year approaches.
Weddings are resuming in the city, and parents of New York City students are encouraged to enroll their children in in-person learning.
