Missing man

The Dinwiddie County Sheriff’s Office is looking for a resident of the disappeared group home.

Marquez O’Neil Paige is a resident of a group home on McKenney Avenue in the DeWitt area. Paige was arrested by the Sheriff’s Office on August 12 under pending warrants from Richmond. He was released from Richmond City Jail on the morning of August 23 and has not been seen since.

MPs said Paige suffers from seizures and suffers from heart disease that requires her to take regular medication. He also has intellectual difficulties, which might make it difficult for him to talk with others or ask for help.

COVID-19 weekly test

The Virginia Department of Health connects volunteer school divisions with COVID-19 test providers.

They are targeting weekly tests on students and staff to bring outbreaks under control.

VDH says 45 school divisions are interested so far. Dr Forlano admits that Virginia School Screening Testing for Assurance Program may not detect all cases, but it will help reduce potential quarantine time for students and disrupt in-person learning.

VDH says it hopes to have suppliers on board in a few weeks to start COVID-19 testing in schools.

COVID-19 test in Hopewell today

Hopewell Public Schools will hold free COVID-19 test for its students Thursday.

The voluntary test will take place on August 26 from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Hopewell High School. It is organized in partnership with the Virginia Department of Health.

Students, unless their identity card indicates that they are 18 years old, must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. The results of the tests will be communicated to the parents within two to three days.

Although the event is for students only, more information will be made available in the future for opportunities where parents, family and the community can be tested.

The company said people in phase 2 studies who received boosters six months after the initial dose showed a nine-fold increase in antibodies compared to one month after the first injection.

About 14 million Americans have been vaccinated with the Johnson & Johnson vaccine.

Ft. Pickett to welcome Afghan refugees

The United States Department of Defense (DoD) confirmed Wednesday evening that Fort Pickett in Blackstone will be used for temporary accommodation and refugee support Afghanistan, according to the office of a Virginia MP.

U.S. Representative Abigail Spanberger released a statement around 6 p.m. regarding the DoD confirmation at her office.

Dog dies after being left in dumpster

Henry’s investigators are working to find the one who wrapped a dog in a bag and then threw it inside the neighborhood trash can.

Dinwiddie Suspect Wanted

The Dinwiddie County Sheriff’s Office is looking for a man accused of assaulting his ex-wife and his roommate.

Craig Michael Dahlbeck is wanted on two counts of malicious injury, domestic violence, violation of a protection order and contempt of court.

On July 27, MPs said Dahlbeck “assaulted his ex-wife and roommate in a violent attack in Dinwiddie County, shortly after being released from Meherrin River Regional Jail.” The sheriff’s office said it has ties to Gloucester County, the city of Richmond and northern Virginia.

Chesterfield celebrates National Dog Day ??
