Dallas Cowboys right tackle Lael collins was suspended for five games for violating the NFL’s substance abuse policy and program. The The cowboys also confirmed the news.
Collins’ suspension stems from failed drug tests, NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport reported on Friday.

Collins began Thursday’s loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and recorded an overall PFF score of 72.3. He allowed three rushes on 69 pass blocking snaps.
Dallas was without a right guard Zack Martin Thursday after testing positive for COVID-19. Martin has not yet been activated for COVID-19 / reserve.

Big loss for the OL Cowboys: Collins scored 72.3 PFF in 83 offensive snaps in the right tackle against Tampa Bay on Thursday. Two potential replacements: Terence steele, an undrafted free agent from Texas Tech in 2020, played 970 offensive snaps in Collins’ absence last season and is one of two possibilities to replace him with suspension again. He earned a score of 50.3 PFF which ranked 70th in NFL qualifying tackles. Little to no impact on Dallas’ fantastic options: With milder clashes underway, we might see the Cowboys directing the ball a bit more and increasing the use of 12 staff if Nsekhe’s protective skills are an issue.
