Lindsey Boylan, the first woman to accuse New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo of sexual harassment in a growing scandal, slammed President Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris in a now deleted tweet for remaining silent on these allegations.
New York’s most prominent Democrats, including Senator Chuck Schumer, Senator Kristen Gillibrand and New York Mayor Bill de Blasio, have called on Cuomo to step down from his post over the allegations. But neither Harris nor Biden, who once described Cuomo as the “gold standard” of leadership during the coronavirus pandemic, have commented on the situation.
Boylan spoke out shortly after a defiant Cuomo denied wrongdoing following allegations by seven women, including Boylan, who accused the governor of sexual harassment and misconduct. At a press conference, Cuomo said he would ignore calls to step down and asserted “that there are often many motivations for making an allegation,” apparently suggesting his accusers had ulterior motives.

“The governor has denied any wrongdoing,” Boylan wrote on Twitter. “He got up to his podium today and said ‘there are many reasons people do things. “He calls for hatred and speculation to be directed at his accusers. All the evil and hate directed at women is squarely on @NYGovCuomo.”
“It also calls into question the judgment and courage of @POTUS and @KamalaHarris,” Boylan added. Her later deleted the second tweet.

Boylan also slammed the White House last Sunday, tweeting to the public “seeing blue trolls harassing me and other survivors” because Biden, Harris and other New York Democrats “were supporting her with their silence.” Several Democrats mentioned in the tweet later called on Cuomo to step down.
White House press secretary Jen Psaki commented on the situation during a press briefing earlier on Friday.
“The President believes that every woman who has come forward – there are now six, I believe, who have come forward – deserves her voice to be heard, should be treated with respect and should be able to tell her story.” , said Psaki. .

Boylan, a former member of Cuomo’s administration staff, wrote a blog post on February 24 detailing several instances in which the governor engaged in alleged inappropriate behavior.
In the post, Boylan alleged that Cuomo asked him to play “strip poker” on a flight and kissed her on the lips during a meeting in his office, among other alleged transgressions. Cuomo has denied Boylan’s claims.
New York State Attorney General Letitia James has opened an investigation into the allegations against Cuomo.
