If you own an Xbox One or PlayStation 4 version of Madden NFL 21, you can upgrade to the next-gen versions right now with a new update – this update comes just a day before the next-gen versions are released. on purchase, which means those who have switched to the current generation versions will be able to play the Xbox Series X and Series S and PlayStation 5 versions earlier. There are a few caveats, however, that the PS5 version of the game can only be played offline at this time.

“The PlayStation 5 version of the game is not yet connected to the servers as we are performing final testing on an issue for which we have submitted a solution,” read an EA Madden article on the EA Forums. “We’ll be providing updates on its rollout tonight as launch approaches, but the game can be played offline in the meantime.”

While EA previously said physical copies of the game will not allow upgrades to next-gen versions of the game on digital-only consoles such as the PS5 Digital Edition and S-Series, EA now says “you’ll have to Contact EA Help to complete your purchase using your account information to receive your free update.
