Dallas Cowboys: Source: The Cowboys have no intention of keeping DT David Irving for the moment

The sometimes productive and often chaotic time of David Irving among the Cowboys is drawing to a close.

The defensive tackle will become a free player next month and a source said the club did not intend to keep it. While this may change – the Cowboys traditionally apply an open door policy, even when this door seems to be closed from the outside – it's hard to envision a scenario accordingly.

Irving only played two games last season. He was in the field for 56 shots, recording a bag and two quarterbacks. His last appearance took place during a game against Washington on October 21st.

A high ankle sprain has prevented Irving during the last two months of the season. He was not as aggressive with his rehab as the club officials wanted and only appeared sporadically at The Star in the final weeks of the season after receiving a second opinion.

Irving, for the second year in a row, was suspended to open the 2018 season for violating the NFL's drug policy. Once he was reinstated, he missed practices due to a battle for the care of his daughter and for mandatory counseling sessions related to his follow-up program.

Irving has spent the past four seasons with the Cowboys after being removed from the Kansas City training team. His best season was recorded in 17 when he collected seven sacks in eight games. The club has engaged in a call for second round bids rather than letting him go, which means he's won $ 2.914 million last season for his limited contribution.
