Dallas Stars: National reaction to Ben Bishop's injury: Should the referees have been eliminated while the Stars goalie was down?

During a 33-second game in the third period of Game 6, Jaden Schwartz and Sammy Blais scored for St. Louis and eliminated Dallas goaltender Ben Bishop.

The Blues beat the Stars 4-1 on Sunday to force Game 7 to the semifinal series of the second round of the Western Conference.

But controversy came when Schwartz scored to do 3-1 with 13:23 to go when he redirected Alexander Steen's shot. Steen had picked up the puck on the outside of the right circle after Colton Parayko's shot deflected off Bishop's left shoulder and sent the goalkeeper knocked back on the ice.

A coach was in charge of Bishop and he was initially in the game, but a change was made soon after, when Blais, who was playing his first game in the playoffs, hit him again.

Bishop stayed on the ice for a few moments while the game continued in the Blues offensive zone. At that point, the referee could decide if Bishop's injury was serious enough to warrant an immediate stoppage of the game. They chose to let the game continue in a decision that would be questioned on social media .
