Each NFC East team has played 10 games and each NFC East team has won only three games.
That’s bad enough, and as if records need more illustration of their futility, every NFC East team has a negative point differential over the season. Dallas has the worst at -83 while Washington has the best at -27.
Either way, one team will win this division and have a playoff game. Seriously.
And it sure could be Washington.
With six games remaining, the Burgundy and Gold will face only two teams with a record of wins. Washington hasn’t won a road game this season, however, and there are four road games left. The good news, however, is that two of those road games are against teams Washington has already beaten in Dallas and Philadelphia.
Washington isn’t going to beat the Steelers or the Seahawks, but every game after that could be interesting.
Also don’t count the rest of the division.
Let’s start with Dallas who just won a surprise victory in Minnesota. The Cowboys have recovered Andy Dalton as a quarterback and could face the easiest schedule left. Dallas has three NFC East games to play and one contest against the Bengals to come. That’s four winnable games in six contests.

Then there’s Philadelphia, the most supposed team would win the division.
Well, the Eagles have lost two in a row, are a wreck in the quarterback and face the toughest schedule of the four NFC East teams from afar. The next four games for Philly: Seattle at home, at Green Bay, at home against the Saints and at Arizona. The Eagles could be out of the NFC East race before Christmas.
That leaves the Giants, currently on a two-game winning streak and on their week off. New York is playing good football, or at least good football for the NFC East, but in their last six games, four opponents have winning records.
From Week 13 to Week 16, the Giants travel to Seattle, stay home for back-to-back games against the Cardinals and Browns, and then travel to Baltimore. It’s a glove heading into a home season finale against Dallas.
It’s easy to crack NFC East jokes – and a lot of people are – but some teams will win it. It could be Washington, although Dallas may have the inside track based on their opponents.
