Damian Lillard’s truth bombshell about not joining LeBron James, LA

Damian Lillard had been heavily linked with the Los Angeles Lakers earlier in the offseason, and for good reason. After all, many of his actions – being spotted with LeBron James and posting a photo on Instagram with a purple and gold background in it – indicated or sparked a conversation that he wanted to be traded in LA.

While Lillard’s future with the Portland Trail Blazers remains uncertain, he’s made one thing clear: he won’t be playing for the Lakers anytime soon.

During her interview with Complex News, Dame opened up about her response to a fan who asked people how much they were willing to bet Lillard would be on the Lakers before the start of the 2020-21 season. Lillard essentially shut down any chance he would join LA by saying he would bet a million, and he gave a reason for that this time around.

“He said ‘I would bet anyone that when the season starts Dame will play for the Lakers,’” Lillard recalls. “And the Lakers just traded for Russell Westbrook, so I’m not going to play for the Lakers. We’re playing the same position, so (I was) like a million bet.

Have the Lakers lost their chance to eventually add Damian Lillard? It’s possible, but it’s unlikely given that Dame remains uncertain about her future with the Trail Blazers. It’s clear he wants to stay in Portland, although his problem is whether he can compete for the championship.

True, Violet and Gold could not risk and wait for it. Additionally, when the opportunity to acquire another All-Star goalie presented itself, they made the quick decision to retire him.

Of course, it would have been great to see Lillard alongside LeBron James and Anthony Davis as well. Nonetheless, that’s surely unlikely now with the current squad roster.
