Daniel Lee Polka, 69, of Tama, died on Tuesday, October 5, 2021 at UnityPoint Health / Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines. Services will take place at a later date.

Daniel was born February 6, 1952 in Marshalltown, Iowa, the son of Paul and Doris (Brown) Polka.

He graduated from South Tama High School in 1970.

On May 9, 1998, he married Teri McFate at the Community of Christ in Toledo. Daniel owned his own construction business and made furniture. He loved art, painting, especially drawing, and drawing people. He also enjoyed fishing, camping and mushroom hunting, playing cards with his father, guitar, keyboard and piano.

Survivors include his wife, Teri de Tama; one son, Mathew Polka of Tama; two daughters, Leah (Terry) Kearney of Springville, IA, and Samantha Chapman of Iowa; her father, Paul Polka de Tama; one sister, Patty (Bob) Youngman of Tama; two brothers, Bill (Brendie) Polka of Carlisle and Marty (Lori) Polka of Norwalk; two daughters-in-law, Jamie Lewis of Toledo and Rebecca Halverson of Garwin; four grandchildren, TJ, Brooke, Caiden and Killion; sister-in-law, Lena Polka; and brother-in-law, Dolan Schafer.

He was predeceased by his mother, Doris Polka; one brother, Mike Polka; and a sister, Angie Van Nevel.

Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home, Tama-Toledo, helps the family make arrangements.
