A big green meteor was blazingly seen in the night sky in North Florida on Saturday night and several dashboard cameras managed to capture the fireball in action.
The bright tear-shaped meteor fell around 11:55 pm EST and eyewitnesses reported a descent of five to six seconds, followed by a bright flash of light that lit up the sky like a fireworks display.
The National Weather Service in Tallahassee said the fireball was captured by a weather device used to track lightning during thunderstorms. The agency said it was still working to determine where the meteor could have landed, although it is possible that it could break into the atmosphere before it had an impact.

Several eyewitnesses used social media to share this rare observation. A meteor is a piece of space rock that has broken an asteroid or comet orbiting the Sun. When it enters the Earth's atmosphere, it burns, creating a tail of fire that can look like a shooting star.
