Comedian Dave Chappelle has tested positive for Covid-19 and has canceled several upcoming shows at Stubb’s Waller Creek Amphitheater in Austin, Texas, a spokesperson told The Associated Press.

The venue’s website listed cancellations for four shows through Tuesday.

Mr. Chappelle, who has hosted socially remote shows in Ohio since June, with quick tests for the audience and himself, moved his shows to Austin over the winter, the spokeswoman said.

Mr. Chappelle is asymptomatic and in quarantine, she says.

Joe Rogan, a comedian and podcast host who was scheduled to perform with Mr. Chappelle on Friday and Saturday, apologized for the cancellations. “We will reschedule them as soon as possible,” Rogan said Friday morning in an Instagram post.

Mr. Chappelle’s positive test result came about three months after hosting “Saturday Night Live” and commenting on the pandemic in a monologue that also hit the presidential election heavily.

“Do you remember life before Covid?” Said Mr. Chappelle. “I do. There was a mass shooting every week. Does anyone remember? Thank God for Covid. Someone must have locked up those murderous whites and kept them in the house.
