Dave Grohl has revealed that he still has dreams that see him returning to his old band Nirvana.

The Foo Fighters frontman, who was the drummer of Nirvana until the tragic death of singer Kurt Cobain in 1994, only plays the band’s tracks live with former bandmates Krist Novoselic and Pat Smear.

Speaking in a new interview, Grohl revealed that he still dreams of the band and explained why he would never play the tracks alone.

“I wouldn’t feel comfortable singing a song that Kurt sang,” he said. Classic rock. “I feel very much at home playing these songs on the drums. And I love playing them with Krist and Pat and another singer.

“I still have dreams that we are in Nirvana, that we are still a group,” he continued. “I always dream that there is an empty arena waiting for us to play.

“But I don’t sit at home and go through ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit’ on my own. It’s just a reminder that the person responsible for these beautiful songs is no longer with us. It’s bittersweet.

Last month, Grohl explained how Foo Fighters finally made the decision to release their new album ‘Medicine At Midnight’ following delays caused by the coronavirus pandemic.

The record, which will be the Foos’ 10th studio album, is slated for release on February 5, 2021, although the band had originally planned to release it in 2020 to mark its 25th anniversary.

After sitting on the album for a while, Grohl made a decision. “So six or seven months have passed, and I’m like, ‘We’re making this music for people to hear it. We’re not just doing it so we can hit the road. We write these songs for people to enjoy and sing along, whether it’s in their kitchen with a bottle of Crown Royal or in a bouncing stadium, singing backing vocals.

He continued, “So I was, like, now more than ever, people need something to lift their spirits, something to give them a sense of relief or to escape. I was, like, ‘We have to turn it off. Let’s say it right away.

“I don’t know when we’re going to hit the road, but we have to give the music to the people, because that’s why we do it.

Foo Fighters shared the second single from their upcoming album “Medicine At Midnight” – listen to “No Son Of Mine” here.
