On Sunday, the surrealist filmmaker made an announcement about, finally, “an announcement” coming Monday, leaving fans to speculate on new projects, including a still-confirmed Netflix collaboration.

Lynch, 75, took to social media on Sunday afternoon with a video update, featuring the independent director wearing sunglasses indoors.

“Hello,” began its broadcast on YouTube. “We are January 31st. The last day of January 2021, and it’s a Sunday. Here in LA, partly cloudy, a strong breeze is blowing, around 46 degrees Fahrenheit, 8 Celsius. “

Then Sunday’s mysterious weather forecast continued.

“Not today, but tomorrow I will have an announcement to make. Is expected to climb to 69 degrees Fahrenheit this afternoon, around 21 Celsius, and it looks like we’re going to have clouds the whole way. Everyone is having a great day.

No other noticeable clues were made in the video message, but fans were quick to speculate on what new projects Lynch might have up her costume sleeves.

“This is either the fourth season of Twin Peaks where he befriended a wild cat who lives in his street, I don’t see any intermediary ”, joked a fan. in an answer on Twitter, liked 6,500 times. “I’d be excited anyway, Twin Peaks S4 speaks for itself and Lynch would save a lot of time with the Wildcat in his usual LA weather update videos.”

On Monday morning, fans were at the edge of their seats awaiting the news of February 1.

It turns out that his film work has nothing to do with it.

“It’s February 1, 2021 and it’s a Monday. It was a day when I was going to announce that I was going to take a break to do the weather forecast and choose the number for the day, ”he said. “But I read the comments yesterday – and I’m struck once again that you are all such a great group, who subscribe or visit the David Lynch Theater.”

Lynch continued to congratulate his supporters.

“You are so caring and kind, and I am so grateful that there are people like you in this world. So we will continue and I wish that no matter what the weather, I wish you all blue skies and golden sun internally, all the way. Everyone, have a great day, ”he concluded by greeting his fans.

Fans of the honorary Oscar winner were also quick to laugh at their own deranged enthusiasm over the low-key announcement. “Too early for the Kermit gif?” asked an early Twitter follower.
