David Montgomery’s 5-word tweet after frightening knee injury

The severity of Chicago Bear Running back David Montgomery’s knee injury is still unclear, but his somewhat vague five-word tweet could leave Bears fans optimistic despite how gruesome the injury looked in real time.

There is no mention of the knee injury in the tweet, but it’s hard to imagine anyone would tweet something so uplifting if they had just been diagnosed with a major setback.

Montgomery scored twice in the Bears’ Week 4 game with the Detroit Lions (which Chicago would win 24-14) before having to leave the field due to the injury. After the game, head coach Matt Nagy was unable to take stock of the seriousness of the game.

NFL Network insider Ian Rapaport reported later that Montgomery will have an MRI tomorrow, but that “the initial belief based on the first tests is that the hyperextended knee did not result in a major injury.” This report lines up with Montgomery’s optimism in the tweet.

The tweet could be completely unrelated to the injury; Maybe Montgomery was a team player and was just happy his Bears got the win. Chicago is now 2-2 on the season, with a clash with the Los Vegas Raiders scheduled for next Sunday.
