A Washington DC police officer who saw a viral video smashed to a door by a pro-Trump mob during the Capitol siege last week said it was his pleasure “to crush a white nationalist insurgency.”
“If it wasn’t for my job, I would have done it for free. It was absolutely my pleasure to crush a white nationalist insurgency,” said Daniel Hodges. NBC. “I’m glad I was able to help. We’ll do it as many times as we need to.”
Hodges said he was stuck at the door as he tried to fend off the crowd.
“They ripped off my mask. They stole my equipment. Beat me. They sprayed me with everything,” he said.

On January 6, supporters of President Donald Trump violated Capitol Hill and clashed with law enforcement, disrupting the joint session of Congress as lawmakers debated contested electoral votes. Five people died, including a Capitol police officer and a woman who was shot dead by law enforcement while participating in the riot.
Trump has since been impeached by the House of Representatives for “inciting insurgency”. The Senate will soon hold a trial and vote on whether to convict the president.
The ministries of justice, defense, interior and homeland security have since all tasked internal investigators to examine the information the authorities had before the attack and how they were preparing.
There have been several reports that point to a lack of action on key security information, including a Jan. 5 FBI report that warned pro-Trump insurgents were planning to wage a “war” on U.S. Capitol the next day.
It was also found that dozens of people on the FBI’s terrorist watch list – primarily those classified as white supremacists – were in Washington, DC on the day of the attack.
