Earlier this week, Alabama A&M head coach Connell Maynor grabbed the headlines by leaving a message for Deion Sanders ahead of his team’s game against Jackson State.
“Coach Sanders, I hurt my ankle getting off the bus the other day”, Maynor joked. “Do you have an extra scooter for me?” If you have an extra scooter send me one here.
Maynor was referring to the scooter Sanders rode on since he had toe surgery late last month.
Coach Alabama A&M has a dynamic personality and a great sense of humor. But Deion Sanders too.
Sanders and JSU took over Maynor and AAMU on Saturday, claiming a dominant 61-15 road victory. After the game, his players were photographed on the pitch with a pink scooter. Hours after the game, Sanders posted a video showing him packing a scooter for Maynor, as he requested.
“You’re just going to bring it to me at the end,” he told an assistant in the video. “Put on a JSU sticker and put a note on it – with love, Coach Prime.”
Sanders signed the scooter in the video, which was accompanied by “Gz and Hustlaz” by his personal friend Snoop Dogg.
Coach Prime’s gag gift was a fitting end to a week of drama in a two-team clash looking to increase their SWAC Championship game odds by beating each other up. Before the match, Maynor brought wrestling legend Rick Flair to the toss.
