Delta Variant: Why You Should Be Concerned If You Are Not Vaccinated

Ohio’s top medical experts issued a warning on Wednesday, saying anyone not vaccinated against the coronavirus will be infected – it’s only a matter of time.

Do unvaccinated people get COVID?

Bruce Vanderhoff, chief medical officer for the Ohio Department of Health, told a press conference that the choice is simple: get vaccinated or get vaccinated against COVID-19.

  • “It’s really just a matter of time,” Vanderhoff said, according to The Hill. “That’s when, not if, an unvaccinated individual develops COVID-19. “
  • “Either you get vaccinated or you will get COVID-19,” he added.
  • “The benefits of these COVID-19 vaccines far outweigh the risk,” Vanderhoff later said.

What are the risks of COVID-19 for unvaccinated people?

Former U.S. Food and Drug Administration commissioner Dr Scott Gottlieb said over the weekend that unvaccinated Americans risk the most serious virus of their lives if they don’t get vaccinated.

  • “And for most people who get this delta variant, it will be the most serious virus they will catch in their lifetime in terms of the risk of putting them in the hospital,” Gottlieb told CBS. “Face the Nation”.

Likewise, Dr Rochelle Walensky, director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, said the pandemic has become one of the unvaccinated.

  • “There is a clear message going: this is becoming an unvaccinated pandemic,” she said on Friday, according to NPR. “Our greatest concern is that we will continue to see preventable cases, hospitalizations and, unfortunately, deaths among the unvaccinated. ”
