In fact, the solution to opening the door lay in one of the new items added to the Demon’s Souls remake, the Ceramic Piece. These pieces were hidden in different fractured worlds with a tendency to either pure white or pure black. The design of the coin matched the design of the mysterious door, which is why it seemed like a good idea to start collecting these coins. Distortion2, who was the first to stress the importance of the ceramic coin, traded 30 coins to Sparkly the Crow, an item merchant in Shrine of Storms, and in return received a rusty key.Distortion

So what was behind the door? A verandah with a corpse, but on that corpse is a full set of Penetrator armor and sword.

Bluepoint actually showed off the Secret Verandah area in a tweet it sent to prominent Demon’s Souls streamers. The developers captioned the postcard-style image with “I wish you were here!” a cheeky message in hindsight.

Coins were also a good source because the secret of the Shadow of the Colossus remake also lay in coins. Except that instead of 30, players needed 79 hidden coins to access the added Bluepoint Easter Egg.
