Deontay Wilder knocks Dominic Breazeale in the first round!
Tour 1
Cagey begins. Wilder throws a left-right combination to start and the right grazes Breazeale. Wilder landed right in the center and followed with a clubbing left. Breazeale shakes his head defiantly. And Wilder gets a punch and hurts Breazeale! Breazeale is injured and in the corner! But Breazeale recovers something in return, a great right on Wilder's jaw, allowing him to save time and save time and bring him back to the middle of the ring. Then suddenly, Wilder blows up a right hand looped jaw that drops Breazeale … Breazeale is shot and looks up … I do not think he'll beat the count .. and it is counted by Harvey Dock! Deontay Wilder is eliminated in the first round!
Update
And it's gone! Jimmy Lennon Jr announced the fighters. Arbitrator Harvey Dock gave the final instructions. The seconds are up. And we'll be on the way anytime, picking it up with point-by-point comments from here …
Here are the fighters!
Dominic Breazeale takes the long walk to the Grindin All My Life ring at Nipsey Hussle. He climbs through the ropes, goes around the ring, raises his glove in front of the crowd. Looks comfortable and ready.
Now it's Wilder coming out of the tunnel leading to the Meek Mill intro (Championships). He is surrounded by two interpretive dancers. What vulture of culture!
"I did a good job," says Russell after his fourth featherweight title defense. "We stayed behind the jab and he could not get past it. We knew that the mastery of athletics would end in the intellect. "
Russell says he would like a unification fight with WBA champion Leo Santa Cruz and then, "We want this fight to take place. The fire is very hot on this side of the field. You will burn yourself. I would like this fight to happen this year. Make sure that this happens."
Preamble
Good evening and welcome to Brooklyn for the heavyweight title fight between Deontay Wilder and Dominic Breazeale. We are on the edge of the Barclays Center for the first of three key fights of the four men who legitimately claim the title of best heavyweight in the world: Wilder, Anthony Joshua (who fights Andy Ruiz Jr in two weeks) and Tyson. Fury (who meets the unannounced Tom Schwarz on June 15).
Fans of fighting would no doubt prefer to have a round robin with each other rather than a trio of low-risk opponents they are supposed to beat. But among the fights in hand, tonight seems to be the most competitive. Breazeale, whose only career loss ended with a seventh-round defeat of Anthony Joshua's first title defense, will be eliminated as a 5-1 underdog. The former college quarterback has tremendous power and enough intelligence to make it a tight (and boring) fight, but it's hard to confront Wilder in a 12-round bout as long as he is in his sporting race because of the power that he accumulates either hand. Finally, the blows will come there.
Gary Russell Jr. has just successfully defended his WBC featherweight title in the same competition between Kiko Martínez in the fifth round of TKO due to a bad cut in Martínez's left eye, which means that Wilder and Breazeale should make their entrance in about 15 minutes.
