GREENCASTLE, Ind. (Inside INdiana Business) – DePauw University will inaugurate Dr Lori White as the 21st president on Friday. White was named DePauw’s next chairman in March 2020 and is the first woman in college and the first person of color to hold the post.
White began his term as president in July 2020. The inauguration was postponed due to the pandemic and DePauw said precautions would still be in place at Friday’s event, with all attendees required to wear masks. .
DePauw says the ceremony will include an invocation and a libation ritual led by Thomas Parham, president of California State University, Dominguez Hills. The opening speech will be delivered by Holden Thorp, editor-in-chief of Science family of journals and to whom White reported during his time at Washington University in St. Louis.
White’s inaugural address will follow the opening speech. The ceremony must start at 2 p.m.
