A sheriff's deputy from Los Angeles County, California, admitted to the investigators that he lied about a sniper shooting at him as he headed for his car on Wednesday.
Angel Reinosa, 21, said he had received a bullet in the shoulder of his bullet-proof vest, which had led to a massive manhunt involving a helicopter with snipers of the police.

Reinosa confessed to fabricating fake stories about the murder after several inconsistencies were found during the investigation. Officials said the young sheriff's deputy minister had not explained the reason for the shooting.
