Raiders defensive lineman Carl Nassib announced in June that he was gay. This makes him the only openly gay player in the NFL.

Nassib received support from other NFL members immediately after his video, but everyone was watching to see the welcome he would receive to the team once training camp began.

Everything has been positive so far, according to Raiders quarterback Derek Carr.

“Yes, like I said, whether you agree or disagree with someone, as we talk about all the time in this country, if you disagree with someone, you automatically hate it. I’m like, ‘It couldn’t be further from the truth.’ I know a lot of people who either disagree with me, or I disagree with them, and they are some of my best friends, ”Carr said, via Adam Hill of the Las Vegas Review. “When he walked in, I just like to watch, and not a person from my point of view treated him differently. He might have a different story, but I don’t know what his story is. point of view, his locker is just steps from mine, and I want to make sure he knows we just want him to play as hard as he can so we can win a Super Bowl .

“Since that’s what we’re here to do, whether someone agrees or disagrees with what they’re doing off the pitch, that’s everyone’s opinion and leave it as that. But we are still family when we come to this building. We better treat it as such, and so from my perspective it’s been good. But I don’t know if Carl would say the same. I do not know. From what I saw, it went well.
