Deshaun Watson Trade Rumors: Broncos, 49ers intrigue Texans QB more than Jets | Launderer report

Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson is said to have some interest in a trade with the Denver Broncos or the San Francisco 49ers.

Appearing Friday on ESPN Get upESPN NFL insider Jeremy Fowler reported that Watson was “intrigued” by the Broncos and 49ers:

Fowler also said he was told Watson was “probably not” too interested in being traded to the New York Jets and would be in favor of a move to the Miami Dolphins in New York.

Despite Watson’s desire to be traded, the Texans have told interested teams that they will not be moving their franchise quarterback, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Houston doesn’t have to trade Watson since he’s under contract until 2025, but the threat of a holdout exists if Watson really insists on not playing another snap with the Texans.

Losing a franchise quarterback like Watson would be devastating. However, the Texans could benefit from the transport of choice in the draft that Watson would likely land them, especially since they are not expected to pick until the third round of the 2021 NFL Draft.

Between the Broncos and 49ers, Denver could likely offer Houston a better package, as they hold the 9th pick in the 2021 Draft compared to San Francisco’s 12th pick.

The Broncos are also No. 40 overall in the second round and No. 71 in the third round. The Niners are 44th in the second round and lack a third round pick.

Denver has a four-season losing streak and hasn’t reached the playoffs since 2015, but he has an attacking talent that Watson could perhaps use better than starting quarterback Drew Lock.

Wide receivers Jerry Jeudy, Courtland Sutton, KJ Hamler and Tim Patrick, as well as tight end Noah Fant, would all benefit from Watson’s arrival.

The 49ers only went 6-10 last season and missed out on the playoffs, but they’re probably much closer to the Championship than Denver.

San Francisco reached the Super Bowl in 2019, but key player injuries derailed the 2020 campaign. With the Niners, Watson would have the backing of an extremely talented defense, as well as wide receivers Brandon Aiyuk and Deebo Samuel and tight winger George Kittle.

It’s possible Denver and San Francisco are Watson’s favorite destinations, but the Texans would likely prefer to trade him for the Dolphins or Jets if possible.

Miami has two first-round picks and two second-round picks in 2021, including third overall, while the Jets hold second overall and 34th in second round.

A trade with either of these teams would help the Texans recharge quickly as they could potentially take on their new franchise quarterback right away, but since Watson has a no-trade clause in his contract, Houston will be at his mercy if this changes course and try to trade it.
