Destiny 2 is hosting an in-game event tonight to prepare for Beyond Light

Destiny 2: Beyond the Light is less than 24 hours away, but Bungie is planning to host a small pre-expansion event in the tower on Monday night.

A few weeks ago there were rumblings that Destiny 2 would see another end-of-season event thanks to a datamined emblem – similar to the Almighty Crush last season. But after an email was sent to some players, Bungie officially announced the in-game event.

According to game director Luke Smith, there is nothing “too crazy” about the event, which seems to suggest that it will not be on the scale of the Almighty crash. But as Bungie prepares to wipe out several planets by tomorrow, it seems likely players will have some sort of departure party in the tower.

While players certainly had an idea of when the event might happen, community manager dmg04 revealed the window players should expect to be in the tower. On Monday night, players must download a new patch at 7:00 p.m. EST, then log in and land in the tower by 9:50 p.m. EST. Players who don’t want to get stuck in weird loading loops should probably log in a bit earlier.

Once the event is over – around 10 p.m. EST – Bungie will take destiny 2 servers offline for extended maintenance. The game will no longer be available until Bungie launches Destiny 2: Beyond the Light at 12 p.m. EST on Tuesday, November 10.

We will update this post with information about the event later this evening.
