David Bossie, who was asked a few days ago to manage President Donald Trump’s efforts to challenge the presidential election results, has tested positive for the coronavirus, NBC News reported Monday.
As a result, Bossie is no longer part of the decision-making process of the election challenge effort, “because he can’t be in campaign headquarters and he can’t be in the Oval Office,” a source told NBC News.
Bossie’s diagnosis came in light hours after it was announced that Trump’s Housing and Urban Development Secretary Ben Carson was positive with Covid-19, and days after the chief of White House cabinet, Mark Meadows, tested positive with the virus.
Two sources who spoke with NBC News said Bossie tested positive for Covid-19 on Sunday.

The other source said Bossie would be home and feeling well.
Bossie attended an Arizona Republican Party press conference last Thursday on the Trump campaign in Phoenix.
At the event, Bossie, who was not wearing a mask, stood alongside U.S. Representatives Paul Gosar and Debbie Lesko, State Party Chairperson Kelli Ward, former Trump campaign officials Jeff DeWit and Boris Epshteyn , former US Representative John Shadegg.
Trump’s campaign is building a multi-state effort to legally contest ballots in the election race and to recount ballots in a number of states. Bossie was named to lead the effort on Friday, three days after election day.
Former Vice President Joe Biden on Saturday was cast as the winner of the election by NBC News and other mainstream media.
Trump, a Republican who was himself diagnosed with the coronavirus in October, refused to concede the election.
Bossie, who was Trump’s deputy campaign manager in 2016, was tasked with the election challenge effort by current campaign manager Bill Stepien and senior White House adviser Jared Kushner, who is also Trump’s son-in-law.
Bossie heads the conservative Citizens United advocacy group.
The White House declined to comment and the Trump campaign did not immediately respond to a request for comment on Bossie when contacted by CNBC.
