KENOSHA COUNTY – An inmate at Kenosha County Detention Center (KCDC) has a confirmed case of mumps, the Kenosha County Health Division announced on Tuesday, June 4th.
The Kenosha County Sheriff's Department has been informed of the mumps affair by members of the US Department of Homeland Security, US Immigration and Customs.
The sheriff's office stated that the inmate at KCDC had symptoms of an infectious viral illness, had been transferred to another facility, and was undergoing treatment.
Precautions were taken immediately and the dormitory where the detainee was held was placed in isolation.
Mumps is spread through direct contact with saliva or respiratory droplets from the mouth, nose or throat.
The sheriff's department said it was working with the Kenosha County Health Division to facilitate testing procedures to ensure the safety of all department staff and people in custody.
