ALLEN PARK – Dan Campbell hasn’t even officially accepted the Detroit Lions head coach job yet, and his new staff is already focusing.
Aaron Glenn will follow Campbell from New Orleans to Detroit and take over as defensive coordinator, according to NFL Network. Glenn is a former first-round pick who played 15 seasons for the Jets, Texans, Cowboys, Jaguars and Saints. He was three times Pro Bowler and three times All-Pro at cornerback.
He began his coaching career as an assistant defensive back coach for the Cleveland Browns in 2014 before moving to defensive back with the New Orleans Saints in 2016. Campbell also joined that staff. in 2016, and now he’s taking Glenn with him to Detroit.
This likely means Cory Undlin is out of a job after a season with the Lions. His defense allowed for the most yards and points in team history, although it was a mess long before he got here, too, and injuries haven’t done him a favor either.
It’s still unclear what will happen to offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell.
New general manager Brad Holmes is expected to meet reporters for the first time this afternoon and, barring any unforeseen circumstances, Campbell will be announced as head coach after his visit to Detroit later in the week.
