Diaz Hat Trick Helps Jimmies Pass Morningside

SIOUX CITY, Iowa (JimmiePride.com) – Cassandra Diaz (JR / Montebello, Calif.) Recorded her first career hat trick and the University of Jamestown women’s soccer team went unbeaten with a 4-2 victory over Morningside University on Saturday night.

Diaz opened the scoring in the 41st minute, scoring on a rebound from a save by Morningside goalkeeper Sarah Finn.

Jamestown’s lead didn’t last long, as Antonia Janssen headed a goal on a Julie Raffel cross in the 43rd minute.

Karlie hintze (JR / Herald, Calif.) Broke the tie in the 48th minute, heading to a corner from Kamryn Fiscus (JR / Yakima, Washington). Fiscus also set up UJ’s next goal, hitting a magnificent 25-yard cross that found Diaz, who connected on the second straight header for the Jimmies and a 3-1 lead in the 52nd minute.

Janssen scored with his second of the game, in the 54th minute. Diaz completed his hat trick with a strike in the 57th minute. After being played from midfielder, Diaz took the ball and dribbled from an 18 to the right corner, then changed course and inserted the ball into the left inside post.

The shots were 19-12 in favor of Jamestown, as were the shots on goal (12-5). Alex nowka (JR / Anchorage, Alaska) made three saves in goal.

After six straight road games, the Jimmies return home to host Hastings (Neb.) College Thursday at 5 p.m. ET.
