ATHENS – Georgia's giant quarterback Jake Fromm did not win in Saturday's G-Day match.
That's a good thing, as Fromm has spent most of the post-game game fighting.
This, despite the fact that his red team won the annual scrum against the black team by a score of 22-17 at Sanford Stadium.
"That's what happens, everyone in attack played very well and I did not respect the standard I wanted to play, "said Fromm. "But as an offensive group, we played well, we moved the ball."
Fromm scored 14 of 29 passes for 116 yards with a touchdown and an interception.
Fromm, it should be noted, ranked fifth in the nation in efficiency by spending last season.
Sophomore cornerback Eric Stokes denied Fromm's second attempt and gave him 39 yards for a touchdown.
Junior receiver J.J. Holloman slipped on the game and this allowed Stokes to skip the road, and he beat Holloman for football.
Fromm, the only permanent captain to come back from the 2018 season, refused to blame anyone except himself.
"From time to time, there is this game," said Fromm. "(A) Ball that is a bit wet when it's a bit windy."
Fromm conceded that the offensive game book had been diluted.
Georgia obviously did not want to show the coordinator of the new elements, James Coley, added.
But, said Fromm, the defense was also limited.
"It's two or three factors. Obviously, some days you do not have it, "said Fromm about his poor statistical profile. "It's a spring match, pretty bland in attack.
"We certainly take a lot off the table, but that's part of it, as well as the defense. They did a great job and played plays. "
Fromm also praised the number of Georgia fans who placed more than 50,000 people at the Sanford stadium, despite temperatures in the 1940s on a wet and windy day.
"I am very grateful to the fans who came with Easter (weekend)," said Fromm. "It's a rainy day, and we're very grateful for the fans who came today, to show their love and get to watch the work we put on this spring."
