The death of the football legend Diego Maradona has now triggered a criminal investigation, and his personal physician appears to be in the crosshairs of the investigation.
Police searched the office and home of Dr. Leopoldo Luque … Diego’s doctor. The raid followed several witnesses who reportedly told authorities they saw Diego and the doctor fighting and shoving.
As we reported, Diego had a heart attack at his home in Buenos Aires. His death was called “culpable homicide”. The raid involves allegations of negligence.
Argentine police raided the house and private clinic in Luque, just 4 days after Maradona’s death.
Diego had a blood clot on his brain earlier this month and Endure a surgical act. He was also being treated for alcohol abuse.
As to why the cops are interested in the doctor … he allegedly allowed Diego to leave the hospital 8 days after the surgery – it is not known if this is the basis of the negligence claim.
Maradona had successful surgery on a brain blood clot on November 11 and was due for treatment for alcohol dependence. Dr Luque was not at Diego’s home when he died, but he called the emergency services to get the paramedics out. It’s unclear when and where the scramble match between Doctor and Diego took place.
Diego’s family are convinced it was a homicide and have demanded an investigation.
Now his family and lawyers are requiring a probe in his death.

Diego was the captain of his Argentinian team which won the ’86 World Cup, scoring the epic “Hand of God” goal against England.
