After what was seen on August 20 at the Wildlife Commission meeting, I have to say it was nothing short of an attack on our wildlife. I had higher expectations for the commission.
The commission gave the Republican majority in the legislature everything on its wish list.
I am disgusted with the state of Montana. They don’t deserve or aren’t able to handle wolves. Along with thousands of others who have commented across the country, including many indigenous tribes, we will hold the commission and the state accountable for their actions. Even with the damning comments presented to the commission to examine the science, instead, they played politics and responded to a small minority of special interests.
Because of their actions, it is inevitable that the management of the wolves will be taken from the state and returned to the hands of the US Fish and Wildlife Service. The fact that this commission ignored science and the majority of people’s comments clearly demonstrated self-interest and greed.
As a longtime hunter, I consider this “new wolf management plan” a slap in the face. It is nothing more than a massacre. It is an insult to science-based biology and management. Talk about morality and ethics.
The commission lacks both.
